IJI students won awards

Two IJI students, TJ Aumua (AUT)  and Niklas  Pederson (Danish School of Media and Journalism) won  the AUT School of Communications awards this week. TJ Aumua, AUT student who studied in 2014 and successfully launched her journalism career, won the Spasifik Magazine Prize and Storyboard Award for Diversity Reporting, following a journalism internship in Fiji. In her speech, Aumua addressed the importance of changing narratives in the mainstream media to better represent New Zealand’s diverse communities. Niklas Pederson, from the Danish School of Media and Journalism, who studied last year won the  Radio New Zealand International Award for the Top Student in Asia-Pacific Journalism.
